CIPS has launched a website to give buyers better access to price information.
The buyer briefings website, www.buyerbriefings.com
, which has been developed with the Purchasing Index group, will provide buyers with price information for goods and services such as office supplies, computer equipment and laundry services.
CIPS members will also be able to compare the prices they are paying with the highest, lowest and average prices paid by other professionals.
The site will also host forums where members can share best practice and ideas. Information about general price trends and case studies will also be available online.
The website is free to use for CIPS members and they will also get a 10 per cent discount on any other services they use through the website.
Brian Ford, director, marketing and communications at CIPS, said: "Purchasing professionals need a reliable, independent facility to benchmark their prices. Buyerbriefings.com will enable purchasing managers to identify savings opportunities and prove savings deliveries as they occur."
