Ariba has been named top e-procurement provider by Forrester Research.
The independent research group assessed 14 providers with e-procurement revenue of more than $16 million (£8 million) and found Ariba the "clear leader".
The study said Oracle and SAP's e-procurement services had improved to such an extent they had closed the gap on Ariba. It also found Basware was emerging as a "highly capable alternative" for European companies. It also concluded Fieldglass and IQNavigator were good for those trying to buy services.
An earlier Forrester survey found up to a third of 1,078 companies studied, which had more than 1,000 employees, had no e-procurement system.
Forrester said many companies are running older e-procurement systems installed at the turn of the millennium, which may need replacing as providers have disappeared or been bought by other firms.
