Bedfordshire County Council picked up the award for best education procurement at last night's Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government (Sopo) awards ceremony.
The four other award winners were:
- Cambridgeshire County Council, which won the county council category for the creation of five television programmes on procurement for the Teachers' TV Channel.
- Manchester City Council, which picked up the single-tier authority category award for improving procurement with the use of collaborative frameworks.
- Staffordshire Moorlands Council, which won the district council category for using procurement to transform environmental services.
- Firebuy, which won the "others" category for a joint initiative with nine fire authorities to create a mutual insurance company.
The awards were presented in front of around 300 procurement professionals at a gala dinner in London.
