Bedfordshire procurement wins Sopo award

Bedfordshire County Council picked up the award for best education procurement at last night's Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government (Sopo) awards ceremony.

The four other award winners were:

- Cambridgeshire County Council, which won the county council category for the creation of five television programmes on procurement for the Teachers' TV Channel. - Manchester City Council, which picked up the single-tier authority category award for improving procurement with the use of collaborative frameworks. - Staffordshire Moorlands Council, which won the district council category for using procurement to transform environmental services. - Firebuy, which won the "others" category for a joint initiative with nine fire authorities to create a mutual insurance company.

The awards were presented in front of around 300 procurement professionals at a gala dinner in London.
