Ricardo, a UK technology and engineering firm, has appointed its first head of procurement.
Dave Pickett will take up the role of global procurement director with immediate effect. He was previously interim managing director of the firm's German subsidiary, Ricardo Deutchsland. His background incorporates 10 years at oil and gas industry supplier Silvertech, which included responsibility for procurement.
Ricardo said it was looking to purchasing to improve the efficiency of its supply chain. It added it would be reducing the number of its suppliers and introducing more strategic supplier management.
He will report directly to the firm's CEO, Dave Shemmans, who said in a statement: "Procurement is an important aspect of our business worldwide as we grow and develop in new markets and regions. Dave will bring a new impetus to our purchasing operations."
Ricardo is a member of the FTSE techMARK 100, a list of the most innovative technology firms in the UK. In preliminary results published last month the company made £12.2 million profit this year, up 13 per cent compared with 2006.
