Distribution and outsourcing giant Bunzl claims its acquisition of Coffee Point has made it the largest supplier of vending machines in Britain.
Bunzl, which last month posted a 13 per cent rise in operating profits for the past year, has also finalised its purchase - for an undisclosed sum - of Dutch supplier King Benelux Holding, a provider of healthcare and cleaning products.
It claims its acquisitions so far this year, on which it spent a total of £140 million, will add £150 million to revenues over the next 12 months.
Michael Roney, Bunzl chief executive, told SM
that Coffee Point's nine British locations presented a prime business opportunity. "
The widespread coverage means we can provide onsite maintenance and assistance to a customer's offices throughout the UK. Most of our competitors are regional businesses, so we can go after the nationwide customers," he said.
Bunzl has also this month entered into an agreement to buy DG Distributors and Vendors, which distributes foodservice disposables, janitorial supplies and beverage systems to the healthcare and retail sectors throughout Ireland.
Bunzl operates in 21 countries and its biggest customers include Wal-Mart and the European hotel chain Accor.
