The value of contracts published on the Welsh public sector procurement website has reached £4 billion.

The sell2wales website, established by Value Wales, the procurement arm of the devolved Welsh government, claims more than £4 billion of Welsh public sector contracts have been posted on the website since it was established in 2004.

Over £1.8 billion of contracts have been advertised in the past 12 months, and 25,000 suppliers are now registered with the site. Value Wales claims the website has also increased the number of public contracts won by Welsh suppliers from 35 per cent to 49 per cent.

Andrew Davies, minister for public sector delivery, said: "By working together and removing barriers the public sector is helping to make the business sector here in Wales a real success."
