The City of Lincoln Council (CLC) has handed over its procurement of building materials and products to construction supplier Jewson.
Under the agreement Jewson will use its buying power to tender for goods and compare prices from suppliers on behalf of the local authority. The deal was signed through an existing OGC framework agreement and the CLC hopes it will cut administration time and save money.
Howard Usher, logistics team leader for the council, said in a statement: "By removing our internal stores we are cutting back on a lot of extra administration and housekeeping that we previously had to undertake as well as stockholding costs, which can only be beneficial for council tax payers."
CLC would not confirm the value or duration of the deal.
