The CIPS Supply Management Awards 2008 open for entries today.

This year's awards feature a new team category, International Purchasing Project of the Year, to reflect the increasingly global nature of the profession.

Judges will look for a successful project that involved sourcing activities and/or teamwork beyond the country in which the organisation is based.

The traditional 10 team categories return alongside the two individual categories, the CIPS Purchasing and Supply Management Professional of the Year and the CIPS Young Purchasing and Supply Management Professional of the Year, for CIPS members aged 30 or under.

Bola Afolabi, CIPS vice-president and general manager SAP of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), will chair the judging panel.

Ariba returns as the partner sponsor, along with Atos Consulting, Hays Purchasing and Supply and CPO Agenda.

Entries for the awards must be submitted by 11 April. The awards dinner takes place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, on London's Park Lane on 4 September.
