Event suppliers groups announce merger

The British Exhibition Contractors Association (BECA) and the Association of Exhibition Contractors (AEC) have merged.

The two organisations have come together to form the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA), and aim to provide a stronger voice for suppliers in the industry.

The group will work to deliver BECA and AEC's current services, such as providing best practice and accreditation, and will also have new responsibilities. These include: seeking advice on issues such as transport, facilities and electrical services for suppliers; lobbying the government to use ESSA members for events; increasing its presence and organisation of events and surveying its members on issues affecting the industry.

Mark Lammont, president of ESSA, said in a statement: "Concluding the merger will enable us to focus on the delivery of an exciting and challenging business plan."
