Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has signed a £30 million IT outsourcing deal with LogicaCMG.
The five-year contract will see the IT company help integrate and manage Taylor Woodrow's and George Wimpey's IT systems, following the merger of the two firms in July 2007.
The construction group hopes the integration will help it to achieve savings of 20 per cent over the course of the contract.
Paul Caris, chief information officer at Taylor Wimpey, said operating a consistent and cost-effective IT system after the merger had been a challenge for the firm. LogicaCMG already provided IT services for George Wimpey before the merger.
"It was important for us to have a trusted partner [LogicaCMG] with the ability to deliver core services across 50 offices," Caris said in a statement.
