Ron Jarman, CIPS president, is to take up a new role leading Universal Music's purchasing efforts across Europe.
He will join consultancy buyingTeam when he leaves his role as global head of sourcing at Reuters in the summer. The consultancy previously handled purchasing for Universal Music in the UK, and the entertainment firm has recently expanded the deal to cover all the main European countries.
In 2005 Universal Music won the overall CIPS Supply Management award for its work on cross-functional teamwork. Artists signed to the label include Amy Winehouse, Snow Patrol and Paul Weller.
Guy Strafford, client services director at buyingTeam, said Jarman's global leadership and people skills would be a perfect fit for the organisation, and his experience and talent would bring a lot of value to the firm.
Jarman has been in charge of sourcing at Reuters since 2005, and has held other procurement roles at British Sugar, Diageo and British American Tobacco.
As CIPS president he has looked to boost leadership within the profession, and raise procurement's profile as a way of tackling its talent shortage.
