Bloor Homes has become the latest housebuilder to impose cuts on existing contracts with its suppliers.
According to the National Specialist Contactors Council (NSCC), the firm wants to impose a 5 per cent reduction on agreed prices.
The suppliers' organisation has urged all of the firm's suppliers to reject the reductions, and encouraged them to threaten action if the house builder persisted with the action.
Bloor Homes did not respond to supplymanagement.com's request for a comment.
The firm is the latest developer to impose mandatory cuts on its suppliers. Earlier this year SM reported that four other major housebuilders had all warned suppliers of price reductions (News, 31 January).
Suzannah Nichol, chief executive of the NSCC, said suppliers would refuse to be bullied and would take a firm stance against the construction companies.
