Ron Jarman is to leave his role as global head of sourcing at Reuters in July.

SM understands it is Jarman's personal decision and is not related to the merger of the group with the Thomson Corporation, completed at the end of last month. Jarman - the current CIPS president - joined the media group in 2005, having previously held procurement roles at Diageo, British American Tobacco and British Sugar.

A spokesman for the group confirmed his departure. SM understands Jarman was offered the top procurement position at the merged group, but chose not to take the role, and made the decision to leave the company last December.

A source also told SM the merger between the two firms represented a good opportunity for purchasing in the future, as part of a wider organisation. The new company, Thomson Reuters, was created at the end of April after the deal was approved by the shareholders of both companies in March.
