OGCbuying.solutions is to simplify its name - dropping "OGC" and the mid-title fullstop to be known just as Buying Solutions, supplymanagement.com has learnt.
The change will be effective from 6 April.
A spokesman said the new name aimed to eliminate perceived overlaps between its role and the work of the OGC.
Buying Solutions - as it will be known - is an executive agency of the OGC, focused on practical actions, such as setting up framework deals for the public sector.
"While we shared the OGC acronym there was ambiguity among customers and suppliers over our respective roles," said the spokesman.
"OGC is about policy, best practice, assurance and coordination of cross-governmental delivery - we are the largest delivery agent."
Consultation for the name change included interviews with senior OGC and Treasury officials, as well as suppliers. A range of alternatives were put forward last year and following another round of interviews, the executive agency's board decided to retain Buying Solutions and separate the organisation's identity from the OGC.
