Leaders in procurement and supply chain were recognised last night at the 2009 ProcureCon Awards in Brussels.
Marc Magistrali, senior vice-president of global sourcing at lift and escalator manufacturer KONE, was crowned 'procurement leader of the year' for integrating risk analysis into vendor management and pre-qualification.
He was recognised for creating a supplier scorecard system, updated quarterly, to assess performance, determine risk levels and ensure key suppliers engage in sustainability.
NH Hotels picked up the 'innovation and change management' award after becoming the first Spanish company to join the prestigious International Tourism Partnership - a membership-led group promoting responsible tourism business practices.
The firm's 'sustainable club', established last year, encourages suppliers to commit to developing sustainable products and services to maintain good social and environmental practices. The company has also committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 2012, eight years ahead of EU targets.
The 'CFO of the year' award went to George Stratford of insurance firm Allianz. Stratford headed a print outsourcing project, saving the company £1.85 million and cutting fleet carbon emissions by 13 per cent.
