Qualified purchasers in the US and UK can now apply to use the MCIPS and the CPSM accreditations after their names.

In a move signalling closer ties between the world’s largest procurement and supply institutes, CIPS and the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) have joined forces to raise the profession’s global profile.

It means holders of the US’s CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) will be able to apply to use the MCIPS accreditation and vice-versa. The reciprocal agreement will also help buyers who seek jobs either side of the Atlantic.

CIPS CEO David Noble said: “This is a major step forward for the profession as we continue to see an increasing demand from global organisations for procurement professionals highly qualified to a common standard across their operations.”

Currently only UK holders of the MCIPS and North American holders of CPSM can apply for the relevant designation. Contact CIPS or ISM for full details.
