Purchasers from AMEC and EDF Energy are holding a ‘meet the
buyer’ event in Sunderland this week to try to increase their spend with local
suppliers.
Procurement Exchange is an annual networking event that has
been running for the past three years and is open to members of business
support group NOF Energy.
Around 40 suppliers from Yorkshire and Scotland are expected
to attend the event at Sunderland football stadium on Thursday in the hope of
winning contracts in the oil and energy sector. Suppliers will have five
opportunities to pitch to purchasers from major companies in the energy sector.
A spokesman for NOF said that previous events have generated
£140 million in new business for its members, with deals ranging from the
supply of engineering components to painting contracts.
Business development director for NOF Joanne Leng said: “The
Procurement Exchange is an unparalleled opportunity for both purchasers and
suppliers, providing them with the best possible meetings for their businesses.
Having a guaranteed face-to-face meeting with a potential customer can make a
real difference to a business looking to grow its presence in the energy
sectors.”
