Business process specialist Capita has purchased supply chain consultancy RedProcurement and Business Systems.

The company will be fully absorbed into Capita’s advisory arm, Capita Consulting. The deal comes as Capita look to “grow and develop” the procurement arm of its consultancy services.

Keith Rowling, managing director of Capita Consulting, said: “Red is already well known to Capita through the services it provides to some of our existing contracts and so the business will complement and enhance our procurement offering.”

Based in the West Midlands, Red Procurement and Business Systems offers a range of procurement consultancy services to both public and private sector organisations, including BDR Thermea and Anite Telecoms.

Simon Smith, managing director of Red, said: “Becoming part of such a large and robust organisation will allow us to accelerate the development of our combined procurement proposition and for our consultants to continue to focus on client delivery and developing expertise.”

In addition to offering its clients improved procurement consultancy, Capita will also use Red’s expertise to make efficiency savings internally. Rowling said: “This acquisition will not only allow for the team at Red to develop their growth opportunities but also internalise the spend on procurement consultancy across the group.”

The deal will see all 19 employees at Red transfer to Capita.
