Puma's chief supply chain officer Reiner Seiz is to leave his role at the sports apparel brand next month, the company has announced.

In a statement published today, Puma explained Seiz, who has worked for the company since 1989 and sat on the board since 2008, has decided not to renew his current contract in order to pursue other opportunities. In his role, Seiz has held lead responsibility for both the PUMA ‘World Cat’ sourcing organisation and the company’s global supply chain.

In the statement announcing his departure, the company said: “PUMA would like to express its gratitude to Reiner Seiz for his dedicated work for more than two decades. He was of great support in realising PUMA’s long-term sustainability targets along the company’s supply chain as well as building a global sourcing structure and a network of suppliers.”

Seiz is one of the company’s top executives, sitting on the Puma board of management along with the CEO, COO, chief marketing officer and chief commercial officer. During his tenure leading the supply chain and sourcing operations at the company, Seiz has driven a range of sustainability initiatives that have been widely credited.

In November 2011, Puma became the first company to publish a profit-and-loss account that combined financial and environmental data. The report measured a range of emissions and data on materials used in the supply chain to develop Puma products.

Seiz will leave the company on 31 January, and the company said his successor will be announced in due course.
