Optimum Procurement has appointed Gerard Chick as its chief knowledge officer.

Chick has joined the procurement outsourcing and consultancy firm, and will raise the firm’s profile through speaking engagements, networking and producing white papers.

“I’m very impressed by the progress it has made in such short time, securing an impressive client portfolio and assembling a highly talented team,” said Chick. “This means, I have no doubt, that the timing is right for me to make a real difference to Optimum in my role as chief knowledge officer, ensuring we get our key messages into the marketplace through a range of different media.

He was previously head of research and knowledge development at CIPS and has worked in both the public and private sectors in various purchasing and contract management roles, including the Ministry of Defence, MI Group, London South Bank University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Peter Rushton, chief executive of Optimum Procurement and a past CIPS President, said: "Gerard brings us expert knowledge, valuable insight and thought leadership across the entire supply chain agenda at an important time for our business.

"Our continued growth and recent successes in securing more international clients, means we are keen to enhance our presence in the core territory of the procurement services arena. This will mean being more visible at key events, in print, online and through the origination of thought-leadership collateral on procurement and supply.”
