Oil and gas supermajor Chevron has appointed Maria Lindenberg to take over as chief procurement officer following the retirement of Leo Lonergan.

Lindenberg was previously general manager of supply chain management for Chevron’s southern Africa strategic business unit. She joined the company in 2007 as vice president of global downstream procurement.

Commenting on the new appointment, Jim Blackwell, executive vice president technology and services at Chevron, said: “Maria brings more than 30 years of broad supply chain management experience in the oil and gas industry into her new role. Her functional knowledge and international industry experience, coupled with her proven leadership and relationship management skills, enables her to continue Chevron's drive for supply chain management excellence.”

Lindenberg will succeed Lonergan who has been at the company for 36 years. Lonergan was appointed as CPO in 2005.

Blackwell added: “Over the last seven years, Leo led the transformation of our procurement and supply chain management organisation into a highly skilled, enterprise-focused function, delivering strong supplier engagement.

“During his tenure as chief procurement officer, Leo demonstrated a passion for integrity and transparency in all third-party relationships and served as a key member of our senior management team.”
