Andrew Forzani will join the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as procurement director in March, it has been announced.

Forzani, currently head of procurement and commissioning at Surrey Country Council, will report directly to DWP commercial director and past CIPS president David Smith.

In addition to leading procurement operations at Surrey, he also holds responsibility for the purchasing operations between it and East Sussex County Council, with the two authorities having entered a procurement partnership in April 2012.

At last year’s CIPS Supply Management Awards Surrey County Council won both the best public procurement project and best people development initiative prizes.

Forzani was previously head of procurement and projects at Epsom & Ewell Borough Council and procurement manager at Nuffield Health.
