Senior procurement professionals from the worlds of defence, aviation, rail infrastructure and medicine are in the running for the coveted ‘CIPS Procurement and Supply Chain Management Professional of the Year 2013’ title.
The shortlist features a strong showing from defence with Les Mosco, commercial director at the Ministry of Defence and Paul Mortimore, senior manager of supply chain management and procurement at Boeing Defence UK. Jim Carter, head of contracts and procurement operations at Network Rail and Daniel Kirkbride, national contracts manager for goods at NHS Blood and Transport complete the shortlist.
The CIPS Young Procurement and Supply Chain Management Professional of the Year also features a nominee from defence - Danielle Larter, procurement lead on project Marshall at BAE Systems. She is up against Hannah O’Reilly, category manager (FM, refrigeration and transactional sourcing) at Sainsbury's Supermarkets, Phil Hicks, procurement manager at Northumbrian Water and Gulam Choudhury, supply chain manager at Manchester Airport Group.
At last year’s awards, Gerry Walsh took home the prize for professional of the year for his work as procurement director at The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, while Chris Morgan, contracting officer at BAA Airports, was named young professional of the year.
This year’s gala evening takes place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London on 11 September, with critically acclaimed impressionist and comedian Jon Culshaw as compère.
AirPlus is the headline sponsor of the event, which is also supported by Hays Procurement. QinetiQ Commerce Decisions is the official technology provider for the judging.
