Banking group RBS‎, telecoms giant EE and the UK’s Ministry of Defence are leading the way on this year’s CIPS Supply Management Awards shortlist, receiving three nominations each in the team categories.

The bank, which is majority-owned by the taxpayer, is shortlisted twice in the Best Cross-Functional Teamwork Project category, where it will go up against EE, and once for Best People Development Initiative. EE also made it on to the shortlist for Best Supplier Relationship Management with Capita Travel & Events and International Procurement Project of the Year. The Ministry of Defence will compete with others for honours in Best Public Procurement Project, International Procurement Project of the Year and in the newly created category of Best Procurement Consultancy Project of the Year, in which it is nominated alongside PA Consulting.

A number of organisations succeeded in being shortlisted for two team categories, including IBM, Sainsbury's Supermarkets and Sellafield.

The gala evening takes place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London on 11 September, with critically acclaimed impressionist and comedian Jon Culshaw acting as compère.

AirPlus is the headline sponsor of the event, which is also supported by Hays Procurement. QinetiQ Commerce Decisions is the official technology provider for the judging.
