Code of practice for radio communications systems

A code of practice governing radio communications systems aims to help buyers ensure they are buying high-quality installations.

The Federation of Communication Services (FCS), a UK trade body for 300 telecoms providers, is introducing the code of practice in mid-June.

Tim Cull of the FCS, said: “Our investigation has shown that the level of technical expertise easily available to procurement professionals is (not surprisingly) insufficient to allow them to distinguish a competent system deployment from a poor installation.”

The complex nature of these systems means a poor installation can cause accidents and even fatalities, he added.

The FCS code, to be designated FCS 1331:2013, aims to provide a contract reference for buyers and save them time researching systems.
