The Cabinet Office is to recruit three new commercial directors for the recently established Crown Commercial Service (CCS).
The jobs are commercial delivery director, commercial director (IT) and commercial director (telecoms), and they will sit in the CCS’s Commercial Delivery Directorate, which is responsible for providing a complete commercial procurement function for government departments.
The commercial delivery director will set strategic direction and ensure the directorate delivers “breakthrough performance in cost, quality, service and innovation”.
The IT director will “shape the government’s buying strategy for digital solutions and IT” while the telecoms role involves managing the telecoms category team and forming the buying strategy for government and the wider public sector.
Government chief procurement officer Bill Crothers said: “We need the best, most cost-effective public services in the world. This is why we are recruiting a new crop of leaders who will help CCS deliver exceptional value for money for the taxpayer.”
The closing date for applications is 28 October.
The CCS was announced in July with the task of taking on £10 to £12 billion of government spend and an aim of helping to save £1 billion by 2015/16.
