The price of Norwegian-farmed salmon has risen by 45 per cent since mid-September, according to data from Mintec

The research found that salmon prices fell in September because of reduced demand and an increased volume of the fish resulting from improved growth rates in the summer of 2013.

“However, prices have increased recently and are well above those seen a year ago, due to high demand and supply issues,” said Mintec. “Demand improved before Christmas, although poor weather resulted in logistical problems and supply disruptions. In addition, the favourable euro added further support to prices.”
