Zambia is to get its own CIPS Purchasing Managers’ Index covering cost trends in key industry sectors.

Work is currently taking place to develop a panel of buyers with the aim of launching the PMI by the end of the year.

The CIPS Pan Africa Conference in Zambia was told the host country will be the third country in Africa to get its own PMI, following in the footsteps of South Africa and Egypt.

André Coetzsee, managing director of CIPS Africa, said the ultimate aim was to roll out PMIs across the continent.
