Acclaimed comedy actor Stephen Mangan is to host this year’s CIPS Supply Management Awards on 11 September.
Mangan, who made his name in the Channel 4 medical comedy Green Wing and became well-known for a series of spin-off Barclaycard ads, will be dishing up laughs as he hands out awards recognising the best of the procurement profession.
Mangan who stars in Episodes with Matt LeBlanc has also appeared in I’m Alan Partridge, Free Agents and Dirk Gently. A RADA graduate, he has taken on stage roles including that of Bertie Wooster in Jeeves and Wooster and appeared in The Tempest, The Norman Conquests and Hamlet, as well as playing film roles in Beyond the Pole, Confetti and Billy Elliot. He recently lent his voice to the title character in Postman Pat: The Movie, which is in cinemas this week.
Mangan will be taking to the stage at the lavish black tie dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 11 September when nominees for the 12 team category prizes, two individual prizes and the overall winner will learn their fate.
The evening, expected to attract around 1,100 guests, will begin with a champagne reception - where 450 bottles of champagne will be served - followed by a three-course meal and entertainment.
This year’s chair of judges is Andrew Newnham, group procurement director at ITV, and others on the judging panel include Jim Carter, head of contracts and procurement operations at Network Rail, and Nicki Perrott, head of procurement at Sainsbury’s.
