Sustainability network aims to help Tesco suppliers collaborate

24 November 2014

Tesco is to launch an online sustainability network for its supplier base to enable vendors and producers across different categories to interact.

From January 2015, a single online sustainability community will bring together existing supplier networks with the Tesco Producer Network, which serves fresh food producers and the Tesco Knowledge Hub, which serves branded manufacturing and processing suppliers.

The 5,000 members will be able to connect directly to Tesco teams, collaborate with other suppliers on sustainability challenges at different product life cycle stages, or on issues such as energy or food waste, and utilise shared buying power.

The network will also provide information on sustainability in the form of case studies, webinars, discussion forums and e-learning modules.

“The new supplier network will bring much-needed scale to many of the sustainability challenges facing modern business,” said Stuart McLachlan, CEO of Anthesis Group, which is developing the network. “We look forward to identifying and developing practical solutions to many of the supply-base challenges through this new community.”
