Cruise company Carnival has appointed Julia Brown as chief procurement officer.
Brown, who was previously chief procurement officer on the global management team at Mondelez International, will oversee strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management in a new role at the firm.
Prior to this, Brown was CPO and senior vice president of global procurement at Kraft Foods, from which Mondelez split in 2012. She has also been CPO and vice president of corporate procurement and contract manufacturing at Clorox.
Carnival said Brown would work closely with the company's nine brands, which include Cunard Line and P&O Cruises, to strategically purchase goods and services to further strengthen the company's supplier relationships and leverage its global scale.
Carnival's chief operations officer Alan Buckelew said the role of coordinating procurement and supply chains had become more complex as the company become increasingly global.
“At the same time, our global sourcing function creates opportunities for us to improve guest experiences onboard our ships and collaborate across our brands to operate more efficiently," he said.
While at Kraft, Brown led a transformation of the company's procurement operations and $30 billion annual spend.
