26 August 2015

Comcast NBCUniversal has joined the Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR), the organisation that promotes supply chain diversity and excellence.

The global media and technology company was inducted as a member during the annual BDR summit in Dallas, US last week.

Comcast NBCUniversal is the 21st corporate BDR member and is the first media and technology company to be inducted.

The BDR is a group of companies that have spent $1 billion (£640 million) or more with diverse suppliers, including minority and women-owned companies. The BDR promotes and shares best practice in supply chain diversity excellence through summits, collaboration with other organisations and policy papers.

Comcast NBCUniversal’s supplier diversity program is designed to promote, increase, and improve the participation of diverse businesses within its corporate supply chain.

Chief procurement officer Peter Kiriacoulacos said: “We spent more than $5 billion (£3.3 billion) with diverse vendors between 2011 and 2014, and our commitment to diverse vendors will be further strengthened by our membership in the Billion Dollar Roundtable.”

Rick Hughes, BDR chairman and former CPO at Procter & Gamble said: “Comcast NBCUniversal is an accomplished and innovative leader in supplier diversity with an impressive record of advancing supply-chain opportunities for diverse businesses."
