Fabienne Lesbros, CIPS Procurement and Supply Chain Management Professional of the Year in 2014, is to leave her role as CPO at Britvic to join The Co-operative Group as chief procurement officer at the end of September.
Lesbros, who has been CPO at the soft drinks business for just under six years, will take responsibility for purchasing across the group’s varied businesses, which include food retail.
“It was the opportunity that presented itself,” she told SM. “The Co-operative Group is interesting in terms of the diversity of all the businesses and there is a lot of change going on. Being able to participate in that change that was the exciting thing for me.
“I have spent six years at Britvic on a really fantastic journey with the business and my team, so it is a hard decision to make, but it is an interesting proposal.”
She added moving to a company with a different scale would also be interesting, as she has found moving between firms of different sizes during her career refreshing.
Reflecting on her role at Britvic, where she transformed procurement from a tactical support function to a commercial strategic part of the business, Lesbros added: “It was my first CPO role so it was a big stretch from any other roles I had in the past. The interaction with the executive team and the board, and being in charge of the whole function, that was a big learning point – the overall impact you have on the business and how you manage that impact and build that impact with the management team.”
Lesbros previously had roles in procurement at GlaxoSmithKline, Future Electronics and Eurotunnel.
