Skanska hails certification

10 February 2015

Achieving the CIPS Corporate Certification – Standard has improved the processes of selecting suppliers and managing relationships at Skanska.

“The certification helped us apply leading edge procurement and supply chain practices,” said Dale Turner, director of procurement and supply chain at the construction and project management multinational. “It enabled us to provide an enhanced governance structure common to all our operating units and continues to align to our corporate goals.”

CIPS Corporate Certification benchmarked Skanska across construction specifically and procurement generally, and established that it has a “sound base” of processes and procedures across procurement. It also highlighted areas the company can improve on as the construction sector faces a period of growth.

“Our sustainable procurement approach has helped us win new contracts, enhanced Skanska’s reputation in the UK as a leader in ethical and green construction and contributed significantly towards the delivery of Skanska UK’s business objectives,” Turner added.

In particular, the certification noted how Skanska “embraced the principles of sustainability” while “providing services to its customers from bid stage to delivery through a high degree of focus on its supply chain”.
