Procurement experts from the worlds of television, energy, metals, perfume and telecoms are in the running for the professional of the year at the CIPS Supply Management Awards.

Alan Hartley of Urenco, Hariharan Laxminarayan of Emirates Aluminium Company, Andrew Newnham from ITV, Roser Ruiz of Penhaligon’s and Asif Touhid from Grameenphone will be batting it out for the title of CIPS Procurement and Supply Chain Management Professional of the Year.

Meanwhile, the title of young professional of the year will be contested between the sectors of rail, sport, defence and government.

Simon Ambrose of the Ministry of Justice, Maria Beattie from Network Rail, Ruaidhri Dunn from England Rugby 2015, Sarah Gillibrand of BAE Systems and Celia Malahlela from Denel Land Systems will aiming to clinch the title.

At last year’s awards Fabienne Lesbros, CPO at Britvic, won professional of the year and Owen Standen, senior vice president, third party utility site head at Citi, took the title of young professional.

A party for those on the shortlist will take place on Thursday, 16 July, at Kings Place in London.

The final winners will be announced at a sumptuous black tie gala dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Wednesday, 9 September 2015. Comedian and actor Alexander Armstrong will host the evening. AirPlus International is the headline sponsor, Hays Procurement is a platinum sponsor, while Commerce Decisions is the official judging technology provider.
