The Masdar Institute for Science and Technology – the world’s first graduate-level university dedicated to providing real-world solutions to issues of sustainability – is the first Middle Eastern university to receive the CIPS Corporate Certification – Standard for its purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
The Abu Dhabi-based institute, which launched its academic operations in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2009, demonstrated robust, effective governance, according to CIPS.
The document that Masdar Institute submitted to CIPS for the certification reflected the coordinated and integrated nature of its many operations relating to its leadership, organisation, people, process and systems, performance measurement and management.
“Masdar Institute strives to achieve best practices in all its operations and pursued certification as it is considered the highest standard and benchmark in purchasing and procurement,” said Saleem Rayyan, director of business services and procurement department at the institute. With certification it has proved the efficiency of its processes, allowing it to build long-lasting relationships with suppliers.
