A site which aims to match buyers of marketing services with suppliers using a sophisticated algorithm has been launched by an entrepreneur.
The website Proovide is free for buyers to post a request for the services they are looking for. Suppliers are given a ranking based on 140 different metrics, and the site currently has 721 suppliers registered.
The metrics which make up the suppliers’ ratings include customer feedback and their credit rating. The metrics are also weighted, with the more transparent suppliers earning higher scores.
Founder Steve Pritchard said the idea for the site came from the difficulty in trying to find sales leads and suppliers for his own digital marketing business.
“It was taking a lot of valuable time researching, evaluating and short-listing potential companies and I believed with all of the data available, I could make this process more efficient and transparent for customers and also deliver a cost-effective channel for suppliers to find new clients,” he said.
Pritchard told SM that feedback from other buyers about the suppliers was one of the main things customers had wanted to see reflected in the score, along with the ability to see the supplier’s previous work.
He added that the algorithm, and the metrics that contribute to it, will be reviewed constantly based on what buyers want to see and find useful.
Although the site is currently aimed at buyers of marketing digital marketing and digital media, Pritchard said there is the ability to expand the service initially to business support, such as IT services and recruitment, and then to other services.
Pritchard stressed that suppliers do not get to see the contact until the buyer approves their application, to avoid unsolicited calls and spam. “The privacy of the customer is paramount,” Pritchard said.
