Dubai Expo 2020 launches online procurement portal

3 May 2015

An online procurement system for all work on the Expo 2020 event in Dubai has been launched.

The new Expo 2020 eSourcing portal will link all Expo related procurement operations and show tender opportunities openly and transparently.

Supported by e-procurement company Tejari, the new portal aims to enhance Expo 2020’s ability to implement critical infrastructure projects more quickly and effectively and open opportunities to local, regional and global SMEs and entrepreneurs.

The portal allows users to access and review open and awarded tenders and timelines for tenders issued by Expo 2020 on a single site. Bidders can view and download bid documents as well as all procurement procedures, changes and instructions.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the department of civil aviation, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airlines and Group, and chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai higher committee, said the vendor management process for an event such Expo, was a complex undertaking.

“The e-sourcing system will ensure a fair, transparent and accessible engagement with our vendor partners,” he said. “Developing a streamlined e-sourcing and tendering system that consolidates all Expo procurement activity, across all Expo buying entities, in a seamless, efficient and user-friendly manner is critical to the successful delivery of Expo 2020.”
