Two groups of CIPS students in the Higher Diploma in Global Purchasing and Supply Management have won Best Final Year Projects at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education.
The IVE (Kwai Chung) groups researched a growing enterprise and responsible procurement in corporate social responsibility. The case study of 759 Store in Hong Kong examined how the growing grocery chain store adopted global sourcing, among other strategies. It found it sourced products from countries suffering from the downturn such as Greece, Spain and Japan, which helped them to adopt value for money sourcing globally.
The second project explored responsible procurement and how it led to the exchange and review of information with users and suppliers for the enhancement of performance and compliance. It found stakeholder commitment, realistic goals with effective performance indicators and benchmarking and reviewing policies were key to success.
