Japan quake halts car production

Several leading Japanese manufacturers including the world’s biggest car maker Toyota have been forced to stop production because of supply chain disruptions caused by two powerful earthquake which have struck Japan, killing more than 40 people.

Toyota said it would suspend production on its 26 vehicle assembly lines throughout Japan in stages between 18-23 April 18 and the decision to recommence production would depend on the “availability of parts”.
