The robot age will bring mixed benefits in Southeast Asia, with young, female textile workers among the biggest losers, suggests a new study by the International Labour Organization’s Bureau for Employers’ Activities.
The report found the economy of ten Southeast Asia nations of ASEAN are likely to grow as a result of the increasing use of robots in production in several industries. But the trend could also lead to significant job losses in the labour-intensive sectors like textiles.
