Sustainability certification governing diamond mining is inadequate and does not protect against child labour in supply chains, a study has found.
A report from NGOs Swedwatch and Afrikagrupperna shows the certification many jewellery companies rely on does not stop child labour in diamond mines in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), one of the leading diamond producing countries in the world.
