Industrial electricity consumption in Australia predicted to rise 11%

Electricity consumption from the grid by businesses and industries in Australia is forecast to rise over the next 20 years, although overall use will be flat, according to research.

The Australian Energy Market Operator’s (AEMO) 2016 National Electricity Forecasting Report said the manufacturing sector would increase consumption from the grid by 6.4% over the 20-year forecast period, from 50,684 gigawatt hours (GWh) to 53,944 GWh.
