Sony earnings take 115bn yen hit from Japanese quakes

Japan’s Sony Corp has estimated that damage from April’s Kumamoto quakes cost it about 115bn yen, partly by halting production of its lucrative image sensors at one factory.

Sony said in its 2016 earnings forecast that it expected operating profit to rise 2% to 300bn yen for the year ending March. Had it not been for the quake it would have expected profits of around 400bn yen.
