The amount Azerbaijan spent hosting the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, the most expensive in the history of the competition. Sweden, which hosts the 2016 edition this weekend, has slashed costs and is budgeting to spend just $18.5m on TV production.


The value placed on Hotel Chocolat, the luxury chocolatier, after 33% of its shares were listed on London’s Alternative Investment Market exchange. The company plans to use £12m of the money raised to open more shops, invest in its Cambridge plant and launch a new website. 


The percentage of British civil servants who said they saw no need to procure digital technology from SMEs in a survey by Tech UK. Such sentiments are not good news for the Government, which has an official target of procuring 33% of digital technology from SMEs.

The amount of honey the UK imported from China in 2015 – 11% up on the previous year. Growing supply from China – and a boost in Argentina’s exports as it tries to recover market share – led to a 19% fall in European wholesale honey prices in April. 


Number of staff on zero-hours contracts at Mercadona, the Spanish grocery retailer. All of its 74,000 staff are full time. The group reported a net income of $105.8m on net revenues of $651.8m, an increase of 17.1% on 2014.


The sum French oil giant Total has paid to acquire battery maker Safte Group to “accelerate its development in the fields of renewable energy and electricity”.
