Tokyo Gas and Centrica join forces to cut LNG transport costs

Japan's biggest gas supplier, Tokyo Gas, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with British energy and services company Centrica on a strategy to cut the costs of liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport.

Under the agreement, the Japanese city gas company will supply LNG sourced in the US to Centrica, and the UK utility firm will provide Asian LNG to Tokyo Gas. Actual swap volumes will change depending on regional and seasonal demand. These location swaps should achieve LNG transportation savings and lower the overall cost of LNG procurement.
