Australia’s controversial offshore detention centres have caused a “higher than necessary expense for the taxpayer” because of poor procurement, the country’s public spending watchdog has said.
A report published by the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) said acquisition of garrison and welfare services had “fallen well short of effective procurement practice”.
