Amazon to open its first Australian warehouse

Amazon’s decision to open its first major Australian warehouse in Melbourne has been celebrated as a victory for jobs, but local retailers have warned its arrival could bankrupt businesses.

The Seattle-based online retailer announced it would immediately start recruiting staff to its 24,000 square metre “fulfilment centre” at Dandenong South, in Melbourne.
