Watchdog to probe procurement of healthcare app

New Zealand’s state services commissioner has formally asked the country’s financial watchdog to conduct an inquiry into the procurement of a multi-million dollar virtual health platform, which never went out to formal tender. 

HealthTap, the technology underpinning local government Waikato’s SmartHealth project, allows patients to directly text or videoconference with specialists using a tablet or mobile phone.
