The Philippine government should improve the procurement of medicines and provide incentives to local government to drive down the cost of drugs, according to an advisory body.
In a policy note, the state-run Philippine Institute for Development Studies’ (PIDS) said access to quality health care without incurring financial hardship continues to be an aspiration for many Filipinos because of the high out-of-pocket costs associated with treatment.
